Account deletion

  1. Open Oases on iPhone, Android, or at oases.so and sign in.
  2. Open Settings from your profile.
  3. Open Account Details.
  4. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

If you can no longer sign in, write to contact@oases.so, mentioning the phone number linked to your account. We answer deletion requests within one month.

Partial data deletion

Everything you add to Oases can be removed from the app, one item at a time, without deleting your account:

  • An element (link, note, photo, PDF, video): press and hold it, or open the ⋯ menu on it, then choose Delete. You can also select several elements at once and delete them together.
  • An oasis or a sub-oasis: press and hold it, or open its ⋯ menu, then choose Delete. Deleting an oasis also deletes the elements it holds.
  • A comment you posted: press and hold it, or open its ⋯ menu, then choose Delete.
  • Your profile picture or username: open Settings, then Profile, and edit them.
  • Your synced contacts: open Settings, then Synced Contacts, and choose Unsync Contacts from the ⋯ menu. The fingerprints held on our servers are erased and syncing stops until you turn it on again. Only irreversible fingerprints (SHA-256 hashes) of phone numbers ever reach us — names and phone numbers never leave your device.

Deletions you make in the app are immediate and cannot be undone. For any other request about your data, write to contact@oases.so; we answer within one month.

After a deletion request

Your account is deactivated immediately and scheduled for deletion. You then have 7 days to change your mind: sign back in during that period and the deletion is cancelled, with everything left untouched. After 7 days the deletion runs and cannot be undone.

Data that is deleted

  • Your profile: username, profile picture, phone number and account identifier;
  • The oases you own, along with the elements they contain — links, notes, photos, PDFs;
  • Every file you uploaded, removed from our storage;
  • Your social activity: likes, follows, invitations, notifications, and your memberships in other people's oases;
  • The hashed phone numbers of your address book, if you ever turned contact syncing on;
  • Your push notification token.

Data that is kept or transformed

  • Shared oases: a collaborative oasis you own is transferred to one of its other members, so that they do not lose work you built together. It is deleted only if you were its last member.
  • Public posts and comments are anonymised rather than removed: they stay readable in the conversations they belong to, with no link to you.
  • Billing records tied to a Premium subscription are kept for 10 years, as French accounting law requires.

Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription bought through Google Play or the App Store. Cancel it from your Google Play or Apple subscriptions page before deleting your account.

Our Privacy Policy describes every piece of data we process and the rights you hold over it.
